Cute new Sesame Street birthday cake!

Just ran across this guy this week. Love the little Sesame Street sign on the top layer with the birthday girl's name and age. Too cute! Designed by SusanReis and you can click the image to be taken to more pictures. Working around the cake, she has the heads of Grover (my fave!), Big Bird, Bert and Ernie. I picked this picture because you could also see the little side cake with a fuzzy Elmo face. Love it!

Table tent centerpieces put the spotlight on your child

Centerpieces can really make your birthday table, whether with the food, the favors or the gifts. There are some cute Sesame Street-specific ones, but if you want to avoid have characters on everything, check out these primary colored photo table tents. I almost went right past them because I'm always looking for Sesame Street birthday stuff, but these would work perfectly! (Except for an Abby-Cadabby themed party. You might want to use these pink and purple tents instead.)

Use Sesame Street coloring pages for a party activity

So what are you supposed to with a ton of toddlers for two hours worth of party? We've talked before about using music as the basis for different games to play with the kids. But you might also want some quiet(er) time activities. And coloring might be just the thing for a little down-time. It give each child something to take home with them in addition to their favor box (if you're handing those out) and should kill at least five minutes. (You hope!)

Coloring books are one of the hardest things for me to shop for at the store. The selection is limited, the racks are a mess and sometimes the book you want is already tattered. Boo. So I went looking for options online and discovered not justs Sesame Street coloring books, but birthday specific ones! Cool!

Some online sources I found for you as well to find Sesame Street coloring pages that you can print off to use:

After the party: Sesame Street scrapbooking

We looked at the Sesame Street CriCut cartridges recently, which can be used for decorations as well as scrapbooking. But they aren't your only Sesame Street scrapbook options. Tons of stickers to brighten up your pages and even an Elmo border punch. I've shown a few of my favorites here, especially the third set of Sesame Street characters stickers, which has a group shot, and the character headshots in the last set. Click any of the images to score them at Amazon.

After the party: Sesame Street Cricut Cartridges

So, you had your Sesame Street birthday party. Now what? If you aren't still cleaning up confetti and finding gummy bears behind the sofa, you're probably thinking about how to preserve the memories. (Maybe. You might also be taking a nap.)

But if you have your pictures ready, you might want to get started on your scrapbook pages. Or at least planning for them. If you have a Cricut, you are seriously in luck because there are three cartridges for you to choose from to use on your pages. Or not choose, actually. Get all three! (I'm giving you permission. :-)

First up is the Sesame Street alphabet cartridge. It gives you all the letters and numbers with Elmo, Cookie Monster or Big Bird wrapped around and under them. You might want to use these just as initial letters to a word rather than pairing them all up to make a word. Might get too busy. There are also shapes, faces and full body images of the three characters that would work on any Sesame Street scrapbooking page.

Since we're talking about a birthday party scrapbook page here, it certain makes sense to check out the cartridge for Elmo's birthday party! This cartridge features Elmo and his friends, plus 3D images you can cut out and assemble for an Elmo’s World themed birthday party, such as cards, party hats, party decorations, gift boxes, party games, and more.

Last but not least is the Sesame Street friends cartridge. It includes the favorites you would expect, as well as Telly, Little Bear and Rosita. Dorothy and Betty Lou even make an appearance! Great for a general Sesame Street party as opposed to one based around a single character.

(Side note here: I've seen some great images where people have used these cartridges to do the invitations and decorations for their Sesame Street birthday party. So they aren't just for after the party. It's a chance for you to get creative with the rest of it as well! Also, links send you to Amazon rather than Cricut because the prices are about half there!)

Sesame Street birthday fun DVD

Elmo and Abby are learning about birthdays in Elmo & Abby's Birthday Fun! Elmo is throwing a party for his goldfish Dorothy, which is a whole new thing for Abby, who's never been to a Sesame Street birthday party. She gets the chance to learn about party games like pin the tail on the donkey and what we consider a traditional birthday party. In turn, Elmo gets to learn about fairy birthday parties and fairy tale games.

Note that the video pulls together different videos from various Sesame Street episodes and there's only a little new material added to make it all work. Whether your child will like that is up to you.
